Watch our interview with Jack River below!
Acclaimed Australian recording artist, Jack River has unveiled her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Endless Summer. We caught up with the singer to chat about the release, creating an oasis on the record, leaning into a new sound and so much more!
The musical project of Holly Rankin, Endless Summer finds River leaning into new sonic territory, crafting dreamy soundscapes that ooze with psych-meets-sixties pop influences. Channeling The Beach Boys with nods to Tame Impala, the body of work captures the albums thematic standpoint through sun-drenched soundscapes that fuel the albums escapist nature and create an escapist realm. Layered and textural vocals run throughout the body of work, luring you in whilst mesmerising production unfurls beneath.
Pivoting away from the hardships felt worldwide over the past few years, River instead escapes into a fantasy world where anything is possible. The simmering summer heat wraps itself around you, capturing the untamed energy of nights spent together in your youth whilst documenting love, heartbreak and the human existence within a positive and euphoric viewfinder. River penned Endless Summer prior to learning she was pregnant with her first child, the record reflects a strong and deep individuality and brings contemplative and vibrant lyricism that perfectly sits within the albums warm and honeyed realm.
Whilst River has no plans to tour the album at the moment, the singer is set to take to the stage at The Cambridge Hotel for the venues farewell festival on June 24. The singer is also set to appear at this years edition of Splendour In The Grass alongside Lizzo, Flume, Mumford & Sons, Lewis Capaldi, Noah Cyrus. J Balvin, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hilltop Hoods, Sam Fender, Idles, Little Simz, Slowthai, Tove Lo, Arlo Parks, Ball Park Music, Ruel, Loyle Carner, Jeremy Zucker, BENEE, Palace, Tkay Maidza.
