Mornington Peninsula breakthrough act, Teenage Dads have treated us with their new EP, Midnight Driving. We caught up with the four-piece to chat about the release, their east coast tour, Mötley Crüe and so much more!
Shifting into new sonic territory, the EP pushes up against the bands signature indie-rock sound, leaning into synth-work and a more pulled back approach. Frontman Jordan Finlay’s dynamic vocals boom stop zesty guitar work and driving percussion, bound together by simmering bass lines. The collection of songs is centred around perspective, and how our thoughts and views on a situation or topic can evolve over time, brought to life with vivid storytelling lyricism.
Having kicked off with two performances at Fortitude Valley's The Zoo over the weekend, the bands Midnight Driving tour will continue on to Melbourne and Sydney, before heading to New Zealand for shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch next month. Supported by Noah Dillon and Hallie, a number of dates have already sold-out across the tour, with remaining tickets on sale now.
Forming in high school, Teenage Dads have gone from strength to strength with their musical output, having delivered four EP's and their 2018 debut album, Potpourri Lake. Having spent the vast majority of last year on tour, the four-piece have toured alongside Lime Cordiale, Spacey Jane, Northeast Party House and Ruby Fields to name a few, and will once again join Lime Cordiale on their forthcoming UK and Ireland tour - which will also see the band perform headline shows in Dublin, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle and London.
