Australian artist Ruel has treated us with his new single, You Against Yourself. The track serves as the latest taste of the musicians hotly-anticipated debut album and arrives alongside an official visual, directed by Grey Ghost.
The brimming pop release is built upon bright production and infectious melodies, whilst the musicians delicate falsetto vocals float above. Co-produced by esteemed producers Sammy Witte (Harry Styles, Halsey, King Princess) and M-Phazes (Khalid, Sam Fischer & Noah Cyrus), the track explores falling into self-sabotage and wanting to help someone out of a destructive phase.
“YAY is about someone in my life who has lots of self-destructing qualities. It’s about that feeling of reaching out to them to let them know the direction they’re heading in isn’t healthy and even though it seems like there’s little hope and you feel helpless, you’re still rooting for them.” the musician shares of the track.
Next week, Ruel will take to the stage at Sydney's Enmore Theatre for his first hometown show in over two and a half years. With tickets to the free show selling out in minutes, the musician will perform You Against Yourself for the first time, as well as tracks from his forthcoming debut album.
