Meanjin/Brisbane impresario Matt Hsu’s Obscure Orchestra are gearing up to release two new albums, Forest Party and Noodle. If you can't wait to listen, give both albums a spin right here on MILKY.

Intrinsically intertwined, both records were crafted over a five year period that finds Hsu in his most experimental stage yet. Textural and dynamic soundscapes unfurl throughout, built upon sonic dissonance and engaging samples. There's an undercurrent across the bodies of work that channel the likes of Shugo Tokumaru, N.E.R.D., Dominic Fike and Andre 3000.

Forest Party and Noodle are deeply rooted within Hsu's own thoughts and morals, tackling global themes of anti-racism, queerness, belonging and activism. A boiling pot of culture, the multi-lingual albums feature Mandarin, Taiwanese-Hokkien, Japanese,

Tibetan and Farsi.

Across the twenty eight tracks, Hsu enlists a variety of dynamic artists, including; Tom Thum, L-FRESH The LION, Sachém, Nardean; GRAMMY nominee Tenzin Choegyal;

public figures Prof. Chelsea Watego, comedian Anisa Nandaula, Jonathan

Sriranganathan; Taiwanese hip-hop royalty ILL MO and Chunyan; experimental art

musicians Jodie Rottle and Han Reardon-Smith; and next-gen artists including

Badassmutha, Naaki Soul, Saro Roro, Kaya Tominaga and SOLCHLD.
