Boorloo/Perth artist EDIE Lee released her new EP, Garden of Eden. Tomorrow, the singer will unveil the official visual for Burning, but you can watch the music video right here on MILKY ahead of its release!

EDIE continues to expand the cinematic world surrounding her new EP, Garden Of Eden, with the striking visual for Burning; presented as a gothic short film. Directed by Stephanie Senior, the video embraces psychological horror and takes its inspiration from period drama to transform one the EP’s most emotionally driven songs into a powerful meditation on survival, identity and liberation.

Set within the decaying grandeur of a candlelit manor battered by a relentless storm, Burning immediately establishes an atmosphere of unease. Every flickering corridor and shadow-filled room reinforces the emotional imprisonment at the heart of the song, creating a space where fear lingers around every corner. The Renaissance-inspired costuming further removes the narrative from reality, allowing the mansion to exist as an abstract landscape of memory and emotional trauma rather than a physical location. 

Rather than presenting heartbreak at face value, the videos gothic framework externalises the psychological weight of a toxic relationship. EDIE moves cautiously throughout the labyrinthine house, constantly pursued by a controlling force than lingers. The visual reaches its Climax when the singer discovers another version of herself concealed within the estate. It is an elegantly realised metaphor for the identity that has ben buried beneath fear, grief and control. EDIE is reducing herself, reframing Burning as a story of self-reclamation rather than heartbreak. The symbolism is simple but deeply effective, illustrating how unhealthy relationships often disconnect people from their own sense of self before they even recognise what has been lost.

As the pair leave the mansion and the building is consumed by flames, the title takes on its fullest meaning. Fire is no longer a symbol of destruction but one of transformation. The burning house becomes a visual representation of shedding emotional confinement, allowing the past to collapse in order to make space for healing. It is a cathartic conclusion that refuses to romanticise suffering, instead celebrating the difficult but

necessary act of walking away.

Throughout the visual, EDIE proves that her visual storytelling is just as compelling as her songwriting. The video expands the emotional landscape of Garden of Edie, using rich gothic imagery and conceptual filmmaking to explore the hidden psychological scars left by toxic relationships. The result is a beautifully crafted piece of visual art that lingers into something deeply immersive and emotionally resonant.
