Sydney four-piece Iain T. McKelvey & The Midnight Tangos are set to make their debut later this week with their single, Carrington Road. If you’re like us and can’t wait, listen to the track right here on MILKY before its release!
Recorded by Ben Moore (Tim Rogers, Sarah Blasko, Le Pie, Julia Why) during a week-long stint at Harvest Recordings in Marrickville, the track fuses together influences folk, blues, country and classic rock, paired with conversational and relatable lyricism. Made complete with jangly guitars and a driving rhythm, McKelvey vocals captivate throughout the track, bringing a nostalgic quality to Carrington Road.
Speaking of the track, McKelvey shares with MILKY: "I was going through a particularly dry creative spell a while ago and our drummer Marshall suggested we take a break and relax. I wrote Carrington Road during that downtime. Our rehearsal spot is on that road and we've spent a lot of time there, this seemingly bleak industrial road in the back of Marrickville has become this inspired source of activity for us. Sometimes you just need to slow down and enjoy the journey rather than plan every step."
