Pop superstar Miley Cyrus has finally dropped her new single Midnight Sky! The singer started teasing the tracks release last week.

The sensational new track is pop-meets rock with a disco twang. It’s glam disco rock. Touching on the singers personal life over the past year, Miley gives a phenomenal vocal performance, drawing comparisons with Joan Jett, Debbie Harry and Stevie Nicks. Co-written with Ryan Tedder and produced by Andrew Watt and Louis Bell, Cyrus sings “I was born to run, I don’t belong to anyone. Don’t need to be loved by you”.

Cyrus directed the songs music video which premiered as soon as the track was released. The music video opens with Cyrus donning a badass Chanel outfit while singing the track. The video goes on to show Cyrus places within a variety of colourful settings including in a sea of gumballs, a mirrored room and a glittery room filled with animal sculptures. Cyrus delivers perfection in the songs visual, serving outfit after outfit!

Shortly before the track dropped, Miley took to Instagram Live to share a preview of the song where she spoke of working on her upcoming body of work for the past two years. While she stated the albums release date is “TBD”, the singer wants to celebrate the hard work she and her collaborators have undertaken for the project.

Last year, Miley dropped her critically acclaimed EP, She Is Coming. The release was set to be followed up by two more EP’s titled She Is Here and She Is Everything. However, after several setbacks, Cyrus postponed the releases. Together, the three EP’s would make up Cyrus’ seventh studio album She Is Miley Cyrus. While it is unclear if Cyrus plans to continue her planned three EP rollout, Cyrus has made the wait worth the while!
