Australian musician Keli Holiday, the musical project of Peking Duk's Adam Hyde, has returned with his new single, horsepower. To celebrate the release, the musician has shared with MILKY five inspirations for the track!
Hyde screams back onto the scene with his solo project Keli Holiday, with Stone Roses inspired breakbeat track horsepower about beautiful women and fast decisions. He’s divulged the divine inspiration for the divine track, which includes everything from ketamine to Beyonce.
"A woman that takes over any room for better or worse. A woman that’ll pick you up in a Rolls Royce and drop you home in a hearse. A diamond studded Gucci top with a shotgun in her purse. Powerful, strong, scary and sexy. That’s horsepower," the musician shares of the release.
STRONG WOMEN
Without having the privilege to meet a lot of strong women in my life I would have never been able to freestyle these lyrics about them.
KETAMINE
I once met a beautifully show-stopping woman with the attitude of a mustang and the bite of a snake. She had a bag of ketamine that she insistently indulged in which I found fascinating. How can one person with so much control have no control? Beautiful ain’t it.
THE STONE ROSES
Without those young gods creating masterpieces like "Fool’s Gold" this song wouldn't have the breakbeat backbone that it does and therefore we wouldn't have gone as nutty on it as we did. We all freestyled our verses and left it as is. Class
DANTÉ KNOWS AND TASKER
Danté Knows and Tasker are a debaucherous duo with raw talent and ideas that seem to flow like a waterfall. We all cooked up this initial idea together at Taskers studio in Marrickville and what you hear is pretty much the product of that day (minus the king [ARIA-nominated record producer] Tony Buchen’s angeldust secret sprinkle).

Kirin J Callinan is the aristotle of the axe. He took this one to new heights wailing the siren lead which made us think "we're mad not give this a key change at the end... Beyonce would do it". Beyonce is god and god is us... so we did it.
