Watch our interview with Rest For The Wicked below!

Last year, Melbourne artist Ben Townsend and Sydney based producer Tasker introduced us to their musical project, Rest For The Wicked. The duo have today shared their dynamic self-titled EP, and we caught up with Townsend and Tasker to unpack the release and more!

The genre-bending collection of songs brings together threads of alt-pop, grunge, psychedelia and hip-hop, whilst documenting themes of mental anguish, love, heartbreak and navigating the human existence. Melancholic lyrics are placed above bright and upbeat sonics, creating an emotional juxtaposition that allows for contemplation whilst still creating a fun and engaging listening experience. Townsend's zestful performance often stomps above Tasker beguiling production, with each track delving deeper into Rest For The Wicked's bubbling world.

Alongside the EP arrives an official visual for the duos latest single, Impulse. Directed by Jamin Tasker, we follow the duo as they enter Zachary's Emporium where Townsend becomes enamoured with a golden glove that draws comparison to Midas' touch. Before long, the pair are shrouded in riches, hosting lavish parties and running infomercials, but it's not long before the glove takes matters into its own hands.

To mark the release, the duo will take to the stage for an exclusive EP launch in Sydney this weekend. Taking over The Marlborough Hotel in Sydney on May 28, Rest For The Wicked are bringing along Birdee, Korky Buchek, Walter Egø, Bassia and DJ Satan for the free performance, with two yet to be revealed special guests. The duo have also teased a headline Australian tour for the second half of 2022.
