WHICH WITCH IS WHICH? WITH MAISIE PETERS 'THE GOOD WITCH'

Watch our interview with Maisie Peters below!

British artist Maisie Peters has unveiled her hotly-anticipated sophomore album, The Good Witch. To celebrate the release, we sat down with the singer and she delivered some of the most iconic spellbinding lines in cinematic history. Let's see how many you can guess...

With a particular focus on love and heartbreak, The Good Witch is a soul-baring collection of songs that finds the singer navigating the human existence whilst finding your feet within the world as she sings "this is my coming of age" on the albums second track. This metamorphosis is embedded within each song on the record, expanding her sonic palette to create dynamic soundscapes that ring beneath her frank and inimitable performance.

Bringing her signature storytelling lyricism to the body of work, Peters sheds the childlike presence of her debut album, You Signed Up For This - instead basking in her confident and fierce womanhood. She's taking no prisoners, revealing intimate details of her dalliances with a former flame who broke her heart to create songs with a relatable undercurrent. There's a formidable presence of power that fuels the collection of songs, whilst also capturing inner vulnerability. She touches on body insecurity on Body Better, turning back time to restore a failed relationship on Two Weeks Ago and starting move forward on There It Goes.

But there is hope. On Lost The Breakup, one of the records standout moments, she's empowered as she knows her former lover will be filled with regret, shortly after she urges you to notice the red flags on Run and to never trust a man who says he'll be there forever. Peters even touches on life on the road on The Band and I. But as we end The Good Witch with History Of Man, the latter of which is a lyrical masterpiece, she notes the repetitious cycle of heartbreak and its universal nature, no matter the variables from relationship to relationship.

"This is my heart and soul, my blood on the page, the collection of stories that I’ve managed to capture in the past year. A true chronicle of my life in recent history, it is my own twisted version of a breakup album and it all draws upon the same couple of months’ worth of experiences and inspirations … It goes from light to dark in the flip of a switch and I hope takes you on a journey whereby the end you feel like you’ve gotten lost in someone else’s planet for a bit.” Peters shares of the record.

Having hit our shores earlier this year supporting Ed Sheeran alongside a string of headline shows, the singer has announced she'll be returning to Australia on The Good Witch Comes To Australia Tour. Kicking off at Brisbane's The Fortitude Music Hall on March 19, the singer will then head to Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on March 21, before wrapping up her Australian tour at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on March 23. Tickets are on sale now.
