Sydney four-piece Triple One are keeping the hits coming with their new track, COME OVER. The group have also treated fans with the announcement of a 2022 national tour.
Co-written with Matt Mason of DMAs, the track continues the groups exploration of alt hip-hop, leaning into more nostalgia based sonics simmering beneath Lil Dijon's dulcet and compelling vocals. The song explores "a situation where you're stuck in a loop of bad habits in a relationship, and not really being aware of that until it's too late. Ultimately, you have to know when to move on; but we often choose what we want, rather than what's actually good for us." Trap-influenced 808s and shimmering guitar work together with production from Billy Gunns, whilst rappers Marty Bugatti and Obi Ill Terrors catpure the conceptual exploration of the track within their verses.
The release arrives alongside an official visual, directed by Bugatti. Commenting on consumption, hedonism, and fast lifestyles, the group don't slip up on their signature humorous approach to their music videos. “I thought it would be interesting to take the very emotive/introspective song and juxtapose it against a typical pop/rap music video. The song touches on lost love and the monotonous cycle of living in excess and bad habits, whereas the video glorifies material possession. I wanted it to feel like some hotshot director that knew nothing about 'Triple One' came in and said "This is how we make a pop/rap music video" without paying much attention to the actual song itself or the message behind it.” Bugatti shares.
Kicking off Wollongong on April 9, the Come Over 2022 Tour will see the four-piece hit the road on an extensive run of dates. Continuing on to Newcastle, Sydney, Geelong, Melbourne, Frankston, Adelaide, Brisbane and Noosa, the tour will reach its final destination in Canberra on May 6. Tickets are on sale now!
