FKJ is entering a new chapter with the release of his new single Soumates, a warm and reflective first taste of his forthcoming third album, Tyber. Alongside new music, the French multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer has unveiled plans for an extensive international tour.
At its core, Soulmates explores the delicate balance between connection and self-preservation. FKJ explains the song is “about embracing your solitude,” adding that while he values time alone, he remains deeply connected to the people who matter most. “It’s all about finding that balance.” That sentiment runs through the track itself, drifting effortlessly between intimate reflection and understated groove, showcasing the effortless musicianship that has become FKJ’s trademark.
The accompanying video, directed by Balan Evans, mirror the songs themes of solitude and creativity. Evans notes that the collaboration developed quickly through a shared understanding of the ideas behind the track, adding that the visual was informed by his own reflections on “the need for boredom in a creative life.” The result is a visual companion that complements the songs quiet sense of balance and self-discovery.
The track serves as an introduction to Tyber, an album shaped by years of movement, discovery and creative renewal following 2022’s V I N C E N T. Written across London, Los Angeles, Paris, Brazil and Mexico, the body of work reflects a life lived in transit, absorbing influences from every stop along the way. Across the album, the musician has worked with Lucy Park, Baby Rose, Bas, Eryn Allen Kane and Labrinth. The album is set to embrace a number of sonic paths, either jazz-inflected instrumentals, funk-driven rhythms, soulful songwriting and experimental textures to create a collection of songs that draws from global inspiration fed into a personal output.
Tyber is out September 11, 2026.
