Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock act Fool Nelson have released their new EP, Falling Apart. To celebrate the release, the trio are taking us through the collection of songs track-by-track.
Fool Nelson will embark on a tour of Western Australia in support of the EP. Having kicked off over the weekend in Boorloo/Perth with performances at The Rechabite and The Y HQ, the run of shows will continue on to Kinjarling / Albany, Wooditchup / Margaret River And Ningaloo / Exmouth over the coming weeks. FALLING APART
Falling Apart was the first song we wrote off this EP; we were jamming and it was really slow at the time, but it kind of just came together really quickly. We just kind of developed it in the studio and messed it up a fair bit. Hits a lot harder than it did initially. The name of it kind of captured the rest of the mood for the rest of the EP.
ALRIGHT
Alright is the second song off the EP and it's kind of about just staying true to yourself and not wanting to just cave to other people's expectations. I remember when we wrote that one, it had a lot of energy and packed a punch. We were all pretty stoked with it, demoed it and recorded it with our producer Andy, and it's probably the hardest-hitting song we had. It's quite punky and energetic, fun to play live.
LEVEL
Level is about slowing down and living in the present moment, not just wishing you time away and waiting for the next big thing.
Yeah, the baseline really chugs along, has a good groove and gets the crowd going. It kind of made the song.
FADING
Fading is the last song we wrote for the EP. We had a recording booked and were feeling the pressure. We went away to do some writing at a farmhouse, and then it just kind of clicked into place and came together. A few days later, we got to the studio with Andy Lawson, recorded it, and yeah, we're really happy with it. This is probably our favourite song off the EP.
