Indigenous R&B artist Marlon is gearing up to perform at Adelaide Fringe, where he'll debut his new single, Blood In The Water. To celebrate, the musician has shared with MILKY the top five live moments in his career so far.
Throughout his career, Marlon has supported the likes of Midnight Oil, A.B.Original, Pete Murray and Xavier Rudd, and taken to the stage at festivals including WOMADelaide, Bass In The Grass, Party In The Paddock, Dark Mofo and Spin Off Festival. His forthcoming single is set to reflect upon the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
ONE
Supporting Xavier Rudd on the Jan Juc Tour in Australia. Xav is good fun to be around and travelling this country and performing each night opening for him was an awesome experience. I would watch all of his 32 shows every night like it was the first time just learning and downloading data on how I can sponge of his artistry!!!
TWO
Pete Murray Tour was a blast, I grew so much as a performer during those 9 weeks traveling our beautiful country sometimes on my own and having time to reflect on just what I was doing. Living out another childhood dream. COnnecting with fans after my shows was special, one of my favourite things to do.
THREE
Performing with A.B Original during their National Tour with HIlltop hoods. Always a Mad time linking up with Trials and Briggs, and performing alongside them is one of my favourite things to do.
FOUR
Playing at Fed Square in front of 60,000 people for the YES campaign song with Midnight Oil, Spiderbait, Mia Wray. Such a powerful moment to see the support for our people leading up to the referendum. Literally a Sea of people.
FIVE
Triple J Like a Version alongside Uncle Archie Roach was special moment, that I still think about regularly. It was truly an out of world experience, and when I was performing, it was one of those moments where I didnt feel like I was in control at all, something kicked into gear once Uncle entered the room and I was a vessel, and the music was in control.
