Perth hitmakers Spacey Jane have dropped another piece of their sophomore album, Here Comes Everybody, with the release of their new single Headlight. The track arrives alongside an official visual, directed and edited by Nick McKinlay, and the news of a national tour.

“I wrote this song about how I was feeling like my life was a bit like one of those nightmares where you’re at school with no pants. Except I used the metaphor of being on set and forgetting all of your lines (because it felt less silly). I guess it’s about anxiety but also just having no idea what I’m doing even though I want it to look like I really do.” frontman Caleb Harper shares of the track.

He adds of the visual: “Finding time to produce music videos in between touring can be pretty squishy and occasionally calls for spontaneous and strange ideas - Hardlight was one of those. This was our second time working with Nick, he created the concept for and workshopped the Lunchtime music video remotely due to covid border restrictions, so it was great to have him on set this time. The brief was pretty simple: We had a day off in Melbourne and we wanted to film a whole performance-based video that felt interesting and exciting. Nick pitched the charter boat and we loved it straight away, we got to dance around on a party boat on the Yarra River for six hours, it was a lot of fun.”

To celebrate the release of Here Comes Everybody, Spacey Jane will be returning to stages across the nation, kicking off in Perth on August 5, The tour will continue on to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, with the band performing an all ages and 18+ show in each city, supported by I Know Leopard and Teenage Dads.

Spacey Jane’s 2020 debut album Sunlight peaked at #2 on the ARIA charts, with platinum single Booster Seat taking out the number 2 spot in triple j’s Hottest 100. Last year, the band took home Song Of The Year at the ARIA Awards for Booster Seat. The four-piece are currently embarking on their UK and European tour, before scheduled shows in North America.
