SAMPA THE GREAT ANNOUNCES ‘AN AFRO FUTURE’ TOUR

Revered poet and hip-hop artist, Sampa The Great has announced a series of live shows across Sydney, Melbourne and WOMADelaide in March, 2021. Dubbed An Afro Future, the singer perform highlighted works from The Return, whilst joined by a full band to bring a live show to Australian audiences that will mirror her stand out live streams throughout 2020.


The musician won’t be hitting the road alone! She’ll be sharing the stage with hip-hop virtuoso Genesis Owusu in Sydney and Melbourne, powerhouse R&B artist Kaiit in Sydney and Sampa’s younger sister and rising neo-soul star, Mwanjé in Melbourne. Additional tastemakers in sound, C-Frim will play in Melbourne, as well as radio host and DJ Ebony Boadu and rapper Barkaa in Sydney.


An Afro Future will see the singer will perform from Sydney’s Summer in The Domain series on Friday, February 19, before travelling to Adelaide’s Kin Rodney Park as part of WOMADelaide 2021 for a headline performance on Sunday, March 8. She will then return to the east coast on Saturday, March 13 for a finale performance from Melbourne’s iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl.


Sampa The Great took home three ARIA Awards this year, taking the titles of Best Female Artist, Best Hip Hop Release, and Best Independent Release for her debut album The Return. The musician has cemented her place as one of the strongest voices in hip-hop, proven by her phenomenal performance of Final Form, streamed from Africa.
