Earlier this month, Sydney singer-songwriter Taj Ralph made his return with his superb new single, Driftin’, taken from the musicians forthcoming EP, Walls 2 Break. If you're like us and have been blasting the tune on repeat, then you're in luck because you can watch the music video right here on MILKY before its release!

Directed by Tessa Kerans, Solomon Thomas and Kaillan Clay, the clip visually captures the ebb and flow of friendship explored within the conceptual nature of the song, inspired by personal events in Ralph’s own life. Shot on location at a roadside motel in Sydney, the visual depicts its protagonist isolated within a lonely motel room, separated from his childhood friend, whilst navigating his own inner turmoil.

Collaborating on the track with acclaimed producers Alice Ivy and Tentendo, alongside a killer drum beat delivered by Golden Vessel, the song continues Ralph’s genre-defying exploration of sound, fusing together warm rhythms around smooth R&B vocals and ab immersive arrangement. Cementing himself at the forefront of Australia’s Indie-R&B scene.

Having released music since he was 16, Ralph has been working on a collection of songs, building up the the release of his debut EP. Launching onto the scene with his debut single Beat The Keeper, the musician captured the attention of the triple j Unearthed team, who chose Ralph as a finalist for Unearthed High in 2017. Having released a string of singles since, Ralph has been added to rotation on the station, and also embarked on a number of headline performances, as well as partnering with Niche Productions as his touring agent.

Ralph will make his return to the stage next Friday, with a headline performance at Sydney's The Lord Gladstone. Presented by Waratah Records and BLOOM, the musician will be joined by Sydney-based duo, Barley Passable. Tickets are on sale now!
