Brought to life in the musicians home studio, the soothing track is perfect for a rainy day, with Merrick's warm vocals wrapping around you. Bringing a slight melancholic, heavy-hearted aura to the composition, the track builds with passion and urgency throughout, which when paired with laid-back drums and the simplistic, blues slide guitar, creates a pure moment of contemplation.
Speaking of the inspiration behind the song, Merrick shares: "I was on tour in Melbourne sitting on my brother's floor watching the rain. I was home alone with hours before the show was set to start and just sat there watching as the rain hit the windows. It was a surreal feeling of melancholy and was a moment that felt perfectly fitting. It's amazing how inspiring the sound of rain hitting windows, pins and needles & creaky roofs can be in the right moment. They were telling the story, I was just capturing it."
To celebrate the songs release, Merrick will be launching the single with a sold-out headline show at Brisbane's Junk Bar, this Friday night.
