Sydney-based musician Thomas Porter has teamed up with dee holt on his new single BLUEBLUEBLUE. To celebrate the release, the musician has curated an exclusive playlist for MILKY, bringing together his top 10 favourite collaborations of all time!
Speaking of the track, the musician shares: “This song is about a moment, and a feeling. I think the reason I chose the title BLUEBLUEBLUE because I couldn’t imagine anything else capturing that feeling of joy and happiness, and I’m so excited for everyone to hear the song for the first time and understand exactly what I mean. On top of all of that, Dee does a flawless job of giving a voice to that feeling of calm contentment, and I couldn’t imagine sharing the stage of this song with anyone else. I can’t wait for the world to hear this tune and feel the same feelings I had while slowly putting it together!”
DAFT PUNK AND PHARRELL WILLIAMS - GET LUCKY
Three of the most prolific and amazing producers + artists in modern music somehow still exceeded expectations. One of the all time great songs.
THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO
Undeniably iconic and has shaped so much of today's music. Despite being over 50 years old, so many of the sounds used are amazingly fresh and unique.
WES ANDERSON AND BILL MURRAY
Not music, but iconic nonetheless. When you find someone you like working with, you keep working with them, and films are no different. A fantastic director and iconic actor. A match made in heaven.
ZIGGY RAMO AND PAUL KELLY - LITTLE THINGS
Amazingly powerful. The perfect example of completely changing the context and meaning of a sample in a meaningful and undeniably chilling way. If you’re Australian, this song is an absolute must listen.
CANNONBALL ADDERLEY, MILES DAVIS, SAM JONES, HANK JONES, ART BLAKEY - SOMETHIN’ ELSE
My favourite jazz album. Simply drips cool. Personally, any writer's block I may ever have is solved with a listen through; this album seems to just be bursting at the seams with amazingly original melodies, licks and rhythmic ideas.
KHRUANGBIN AND LEON BRIDGES - TEXAS SUN
Feels like a sunny day. Feels like a happy day. Feels like a comforting hug. Somehow depending on my mood it seems to fit perfectly. The perfect example of different artists sounds blending together seamlessly to create something flawless.
KANYE WEST AND KID CUDI - KIDS SEE GHOSTS
One of the best albums in recent history by two of the most influential artists of our generation. Every element is seemingly without flaw, and both artists seem to exert a control and level of artistry that people were worried we would never get to see again from either, let alone together.
THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS - STANDING NEXT TO ME
British rock royalty Alex Turner and Miles Kane combine for a sum greater than their parts. It is a cliche, but these two present a time capsule that is as slick as it is timeless. It’s rare to get voices in rock that compliment strings and orchestral sections rather than overpower, and the blending of such elements is what makes the music seem to last so powerfully.
PORTER ROBINSON AND MADEON - SHELTER
Put two musical prodigies on a forum online together, give them a friendship spanning a decade with worldwide success, and this is what you could get. Two electronic music powerhouses showing how far they can push the genre in as many directions as possible. An all time favourite of mine.
THOMAS PORTER AND DEE HOLT - BLUEBLUEBLUE
Fresh. Awe inspiring. Genre defining. Gingivitis curing. Not much more needs to be said about such a zeitgeist influencing ballad. Two out of ten needs more cowbell.
BLUEBLUEBLUE is out now!
