Los Angeles alt-rockers, The Wrecks have unveiled their sophomore album, Sonder. To celebrate the release, the band have curated an exclusive playlist for MILKY, full of tracks from their favourite Australian artists.

Making this album was a very difficult, sleepless journey that took a lot out of me, but each day and night throughout that process, I could see the light at the end of the tunnel,” shares The Wreck's vocalist and producer Nick Anderson. “I wrote this album because I had to. I was slowly and poorly processing a breakup, and for a while there, the breakup was winning.”

He continues, saying making the record was “lonely, emotional, angry, sleepy, and loud process. 5:00 AM would roll around and I’d be sitting in my studio next to my snoring puppy trying to perfect the same guitar take that I began attempting two hours before then. But I knew I was onto something with this new music, and every fiber of my being wanted to see it through. I haven’t felt this excited or optimistic about releasing a body of work in my entire career.”

STAND ATLANTIC

Definitely one of the freshest bands in pop-punk/alternative. Every release lately has been massive. Definitely a band we’d love to connect with.

ALEX LAHEY

I did a writing session with Alex years ago and have been a fan ever since.

TAME IMPALA

Of course Tame Impala is on this list.

GANG OF YOUTHS

I haven’t experienced such a magnificent live performance since I used limewire to pirate Keith Urban’s performance of You’ll Think of Me on his 2005 Livin’ Right Now Tour. Gang of Youths has the fire to match that energy.

JET

We’ve been covering Jet’s Are You Gonna Be My Girl to woo audiences since 2016. It’s only fair they make this list. In all honesty though, Jet was a major inspiration for the initial musical direction of The Wrecks.

Sonder is out now!
