Sydney’s indie rock outfit PLANET have today dropped their debut album, Information Overload. To celebrate the release, the four-piece have curated an exclusive playlist for MILKY, full of some of their favourite tracks produced by the records producer, Adrian Bushby (New Order, Placebo, U2, Spice Girls).
“We were contacted by Adrian Bushby via our management that he was keen to record an album with us. We were chuffed. The thought of going to his home studio in London sounded amazing as we had our Maybe Someday EP UK tour lined up there already. That dream was swiftly quashed by the thing that erupted on a global scale at the start of 2020. We were still excited to work with him so we had to make it work one way or another.” frontman Matty Took shares of working with Bushby.
ONLY SHALLOW - MY BLOODY VALENTINE
This song is awesome, I love the whole groove of it. Adrian engineered this album (Loveless) but this is my favourite track on it for sure. Love how lush the modulated guitars sound on top of everything.
UNDISCLOSED DESIRES - MUSE
Probably one Muse’s biggest songs, love how much clarity is in the mix and how poppy it is. AB was the engineer on this album (The Resistance).
UNDERCOVER MARTYN - TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB
Adrian did such a good job on the mix of this single and sounds so clean.
ACT YR AGE - BLUEJUICE
Adrian mixed this whole album (Company) - love this song, such a banger.
THE PRETENDER - FOO FIGHTERS
AB engineered this album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace and got a Grammy for it. Think everyone knows this track.
THIRTEEN - BEN KWELLER
Didn't know he mixed this self-titled album until I did some digging! One of my favourite albums as a kid growing up, love the lyrics and the mix accompanies the song so well.
CRYSTAL - NEW ORDER
He mixed the whole album (Get Ready) and this is the big banger on it - great song and the mix on it is incredible.
EVERY YOU EVERY ME - PLACEBO
Engineered + mixed this whole album (Without You I’m Nothing). Some really awesome sounds on this classic tune.
WANNABE - SPICE GIRLS
Arguably one of the biggest pop songs ever made… Adrian engineered + mixed the album Spice + also engineered on Spiceworld.
RESIGN - PLANET
Loved working with Adrian and loved the mix he did on our album, gave all of our songs so much clarity (including the older songs that feature on the album) - this was our first single we released off ‘Information Overload’.
