RUSH - SPIRIT OF RADIO
As a band, we’re big fans of Rush. The arpeggiated guitar melody had a big part in influencing the chorus arpeggio in Marianne.
WAND - FLOATING HEAD
For Alive, getting the right vibe between the drums and bass was very important. We used this song as a point of reference.
MGMT - SIBERIAN BREAKS
The end of this song influenced the end of Moving Objects in a big way.
JUDAS PRIEST- PAINKILLER
The double bass drum in the verses prompted us to try double bass drum in the pre choruses of Marianne.
THE BLACK ANGELS - YELLOW ELEVATOR #2
Another track that we used for a vibe reference for the more uptempo tracks. Really like the rawness of the drums.
SUPERET - LOVING THE ANIMAL
Love the drum sound in this one. Huge crunchy drums that we referenced for the Night Owl drum sound.
THEE OH SEES - FACE STABBER
The guitars in this song are so loud and upfront in the mix. We referenced this for the Alive chorus guitars.
POND - GIANT TORTOISE
Have always loved the vibe of this. We tried to harness a bit of it overall.
THE BEATLES - STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER
Big influence on Slanted Building. The use of mellotron and the general vibe.
CAN- PAPERHOUSE
We played around with kraut rock beats for ages. Night Owl and Alive both came from jams over kraut rock beats that never change and stay consistent regardless of the time signature.
Moving Objects is out now!
