Emerging Eora/Sydney-based indie outfit The Sooks are back with their new single, Take It Slow. To celebrate, the band have put together a photo diary so you can get to know them a little better.
"Take It Slow was written in the Summer of 2024, a couple of weeks before we were set to play our very first festival over New Year's," the band share. "It was a big time for the band, and we were obviously so stoked to be playing on a big stage, but at the same time, it was so new for us. The cost-of-living crisis was really getting to us. Ultimately, the song is about not letting life dim your shine and doing what you feel you're meant to do, despite the roadblocks life puts in your way. It's a mantra. Take it slow. Take it slow. Take it slow… and you'll pull through."

One of the photos we took on our latest shoot for our new song ‘take it slow’. We had such a good time taking these in such a sick location with our photographer Tom Wilkinson. Just a nice little fun moment captured on tape. Image: Tom Wilkinson.

A cute little pic of our bassist Jezz at a recent gig. We just froth live gigs. Nothing beats the feeling.

SMILE! Taken right before we opened for Press Club on the Sydney leg of their latest tour. Had such a great time with these legends.

Taken after a big night out after a gig. The party goes on even after the gig is over! If you’re at a show, make sure yas stick around for a wee bit after and see where the night takes us. We love turning a gig into a big night out with our mates and fans.

Corey, our singer, looking grumpy after a photo shoo for our new song ‘take it slow’. It was so hot that day.

Us after one of our latest songwriting sessions. After one of the boys writes a song, he’ll bring it to the rest of the band and we’ll flesh it out together. When it turns out great - it looks something like this. Smiles for days.

A photo of us at our latest gig at Bootleggers and Kelly’s on King in Newtown. We love playing for the fans. It’s the heartbeat of the Sooks’ ethos. It’s why we do what we do. We live for it.

A photo of Corey and Keenan, the brothers in the band, taken on a 40 degree sweltering summer day. These two do most of the songwriting in the band. The brotherly bond helps them keep honest with eachother, so only the best song ideas get filtered through.

Our band mascot, Queeva. We’ve got her on merch. We’ve got her on single covers. She’s our band dog and we love her.

A pic of us looking steezy staring down the barrel at the test shoot for Take It Slow. How good is that view! Image: Tom Wilkinson.
