Adelaide's The Tullamarines recently dropped their new single, Lying. To celebrate, the band are taking us behind-the-scenes of the track with an exclusive photo diary.

“Lying is about insecurity, imposter syndrome, self-loathing, and the effort to do better," the band share. "That feeling of people leaving before we perform is a running joke, but it comes from real doubt. We struggle with confidence in our music, image-everything. So we said exactly how we felt, but wrapped it in sunny, 90s pop-inspired sounds. It’s sad-happy. Sometimes it’s easier to pretend you’re okay than to be vulnerable. We hope this song helps people feel seen and encourages real conversations.”

 It’s not a Tullies song without some acoustics. We cranked the distortion and got a little silly with it to get the distinct acoustic sound of Lying.

Morning meeting pre recording, Saffie was an important presence, she always wants the best performance out of all of us.

This was around the time Ben came up with the initial idea of lying. We were driving around a lot for tours doing lots of shows, we were all pretty exhausted, whilst all going back to work during the week, not in the best mental state but trying to have a good time.
