Appearing on triple j breakfast this morning, Matt Corby surprised listeners with his new song Vitamin. The track follows Corby’s latest single, If I Never Say A Word, which dropped only last week.
Co-written and co-produced with Matthew Neighbour (Avalanches, Missy Higgins) and Alex Henriksson, the soulful and contemplative new track considers the value of of knowing what’s important, suggesting that this year has provided a period of time of self-reflection. Corby will be releasing a limited edition 7” vinyl pressing of If I Never Say A Word and Vitamin. The Double A Side is available for pre-order here.
Of the release, Corby said: “‘’Vitamin’ is all about the things that stop you from seeing the big picture, what’s truly important and the people around you that make life great. That’s what we mean by vitamins. Where are your vitamins coming from? Most people operate in this quick fix, day by day kind of scrambling, and it’s really hard to stop and find all the value in your existence and really come up with cool ideas to make it better. For me, it’s something to strive for.”
Whilst Corby has yet to confirm a full length release for 2020, the singer has been using his time in the studio to not only work on his own music, but also producing tracks for THE RIOT and Budjerah. Corby also co-produced Great Gable’s debut album Tracing Faces. Read our review of the album here.
