Perth-based artist Madoc Plane recently shared his groove-laden single, Lilac In June. The musician enlisted Sam Ford on production duties, recording, mixing and mastering the track at Tone City Recording.
Effortlessly weaving threads of funk, pop and jazz into one lush soundscape, Plane's soulful vocals ooze above delicate piano melodies, funk-based bass lines and steady percussion. Likening the longing for the return of a partner to lilacs yearly bloom in spring, the musician brings vivid lyricism to the release. Craving that missing piece, Plane remains hopeful for a homecoming. His warm and rich vocals wrap themselves around you, like an embrace from an old friend, lulling you into a sense of comfort as you groove along to the songs infectious melody.
"In Lilac In June I tried to incorporate stylistic influence from contemporary-soul artists Jordan Rakei and Matt Corby, as their music has connected with me the most." the musician shares with MILKY. "Lilac In June is about holding onto a feeling of hope when you have lost something special because you know that it will come back, much like the seasonal blooming of the Lilac flower."
Inspired by the likes of Jordan Rakei, Matt Corby and Tom Misch, Plane recently completed his his fourth year of studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, majoring in contemporary vocals. Lilac In June is just the first taste of what's to come from the talented musician, leaving us hungry for more.
