Melbourne-based dance-pop artist Kevin Silvester has shared with his new single, Orbit. The song follows up Stranger and Delulu, and is set to appear on his forthcoming debut EP.
The third release from the release, the track delves deeper into the singers pop-meets-punk sonic realm - yearning to be on the soundtrack of your favourite Y2K teen films. Built atop a driving beat and crunchy guitar riffs, Silvester's bring the track into a contemporary realm with his polished performance. Lyrically, the track explores an all-too-familiar queer experience, unpacking internalised homophobia with introspective and personal lyricism.
“ORBIT is definitely one of my favourites from the EP. The lyrics are so specific, I almost feel bad for the boy I wrote this about… almost,” Silvester shares. “I’d come into the studio really upset, venting to my producers, Ace and Brodie, about a frustrating experience with a boy. Wanting to process it on my own, I went home and wrote this song. When I brought it back to the studio a couple days later, it became a special, communal experience as we worked on it together.”
To celebrate the release, Silvester will hit the stage on April 24 at Stay Gold Melbourne. Supported by Terra Rouge and GETJAXXED, tickets are on sale now.
