Watch our interview with Hockey Dad's Zach Stephenson below!
Windang duo Hockey Dad have returned with new music, treating us all to their new single T's To Cross. We recently caught up with one half of the duo, Zach Stephenson, who shared some updates on their hotly-anticipated third album.
Continuing their distinct surf-rock sonics, the bands latest offering brings zesty riffs and strident percussion, going wild beneath Stephenson's commanding vocal performance. The track explores and navigates the daily grind of everyday living, its repetitious nature and questions if there's more to life than a 9 to 5.
"T’s To Cross is an ode to the rat race,”the duo share of the single. “It’s a look into the daily grind most people go through just to survive. Clock in/Clock out. Everybody jumping over the top of each other to make it up the totem pole. When really we all end up old and bald. Is this lifetime of sacrifice really worth it in the end?".
In 2020, the Windang duo released their third studio album, Brain Candy, which debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and scored the band a nomination for Best Album at the 2021 Rolling Stone Australia Awards. Currently in the midst of a national tour, the band will soon travel to New Zealand and North America for a string of shows, with Stephenson revealing to MILKY the band have recorded enough new material fo fill two albums.
