Australian singer-songwriter George Alice has made her return with her new single, Mid Years. Co-written with Alex Lahey, and co-written produced by Japanese Wallpaper (Allday, MAY-A, Mallrat, Rostam) the release is accompanied by an official visual, directed by Jack Bielby and Thomas Schaefer.
Alongside the first tase of new music arrived a tour announcement, with the singer set to hit the road next January. Kicking off in Brisbane on January 21, the run of shows will continue on to Sydney and Adelaide, before wrapping up in Melbourne on January 29. Tickets are on sale this Friday at 12:00 PM AEST, sign up here for early access to tickets.
Speaking of the track, the singer shares: “I wrote Mid Years on one of my first zoom sessions with Gab Strum (Japanese Wallpaper) and Alex Lahey last year. I originally wanted to write a song about mid year exams in high school, hence the name, but as we started writing it felt more like a light-hearted breakup song. I wanted it to feel like an encouraging nudge to your next life chapter, a hug after that breakup, a reason to dance with a friend, to just keep going and see what happens next. I’m always an over thinker when it comes to changes in my life so this felt kinda like the answers I needed but couldn’t find. This song makes me feel so full of life, I hope it does the same for others in these times.”
