Watch our interview with Forest Claudette below!
Having just wrapped up a run of sold-out headline shows, Melbourne-based alt pop artist Forest Claudette had dropped his new single, Mess Around. The track sees the musician team up with American hip hop duo EARTHGANG.
Produced by Paul Meany (Yungblud, Twenty One Pilots, The Wombats, LANY), the seductive cut places Claudette's luring vocals above soulful sonics, led by a dynamic synth flute hook. Oozing with charm and charisma, the unity of Claudette and EARTHGANG's dynamic performances creates a match made in heaven as their distinct musical stylings compliment one another.
“Before anything else about the song, I need acknowledge the EARTHGANG feature. I still can’t really believe it. I’ve been a fan of theirs for a hot minute, so for them to be a part of this track is just very special. Around the time I wrote ‘Mess Around’ I was going on dates and exploring LA for the first time as an adult. I met some incredible people and they helped me learn a lot about myself. Even though it has this real f**k boy energy, to me the song is about feeling confident in what you want and feeling comfortable to communicate that with whoever, knowing they might not feel the same. But that’s life bbyyyy ️❤️🔥” the musician shares of the track.
Having released his debut EP, The Year of February, last year, Mess Around marks Claudette's first release of 2023. The release introduced listeners to the musicians fusion of RNB, pop, hip-hip and rap, creating soundscapes that meander between textural sonics and atmospheric production and work in contrast to the conceptual exploration of each track.
