Aussie surf rockers Debbies have shared their new single, meaning of love, marking a turn from the bands signature sound.

Recorded with Jack Nigro (Pacific Avenue, The Terrys, Skeggs), the track leans into pop-punk influences, creating a more dynamic soundscape heralded by riotous guitar riff that would make early noughties Simple Plan proud. Building to a massive sing-a-long chorus, the track explores feeling in love and navigating what the feeling itself means.

Speaking of the release, the duo share: "meaning of love is about the meaning of love from our perspective, on a close mates recent dabble with love. From the outside looking in, it looked as if he wasn’t really in love in the relationship he was in. I think we landed on a sweet spot with the chorus that encapsulates the confusion some of us go through, when we get caught up in what love actually means and how it feels when we try to constantly provide the advertised love we all see in movies, but it doesn't go the way as planned. The inability I had to help my mate and trying to capture what he was feeling is what created the chorus of MOL and what instantly created an anthem that hit hard, feeling angsty and relatable for us to sing."

Kicking off in Thirroul on August 13, the duos meaning of love tour will continue on to

Bondi and Brisbane, before taking to the stage at Crafted Festival Broadbeach in August 27. Tickets for Crafted Festival are on sale now, with Debbies' three headline show free to attend. In the two short years since their formation, Debbies have taken to the stage at Falls Festival, Bigsound and Yours and Owls Festival, having also become finalists in Triple j Unearthed High 2019.
