Five-time ARIA award-winner and chart-topper producer, songwriter and artist Chet Faker has unveiled his highly anticipated sophomore album, Hotel Surrender.

The musical project of Nick Murphy, Chet Faker's new record comes after the musician returned from a six-year hiatus in late 2021. Self-produced and self-written by Murphy, and mixed by Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, Flaming Lips, MGMT), Hotel Surrender arrives with ten new tracks, including the previously released singles Low, Get High and Whatever Tomorrow.

Bringing all of that Chet Faker goodness with swaggering bass lines and electrifying melodies, the release meanders between moments of intimacy and lively swagger. Murphy had completed the record in early 2020, sharing “I just remember looking at it in a playlist and just being like, ‘Ah, shit, this is a ChetFaker album.’ It just sort of showed up and I had a decision to make - do I put this out?”

“There were a lot of heavy perspective shifters for me. I really just thought of the music in a different light. I look at it as a mass therapy now. I think I used to see it as this plight, like I was on a crusade or this creative odyssey. Now I see that it’s more Shamanistic. You’ve got to find some light—or sometimes dark, whatever’s right—and share it. I realized that was the heart of the Chet Faker project. And I felt like the world was hurting, so I thought, ‘I can do a small something to give people some joy.'”

Murphy's Chet Faker project first appeared in 2012 with the Thinking in Textures EP, winning him Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Independent Single/EP at the AIR Awards. His 2014 debut studio album Built on Glass debuted at number one on the Australian ARIA Charts, and appeared three times in the top ten of triple j’s Hottest 100, taking out the top spot for Talk Is Cheap.
