Melbourne artist, Benny Morrell has unveiled his new single, Not Anymore.
Across the track, Morrell peels back the layers of a crumbling relationship, offering a brooding and beautifully fractured glimpse into the emotional loops we sometimes trap ourselves in. Set to appear on his forthcoming EP, All That’s Left, the song sees the musician artist settling deeper into his alt-pop roots, weaving in atmospheric textures with stark lyrical honesty.
Built around spatial synth work, ambient tension, and an aching vocal performance, Not Anymore doesn’t scream its heartbreak - it whispers it, allowing the weight of repetition and resignation to settle in. “It’s not one-sided, it normally takes two to tango,” Morrell explains. “But when people are arguing and when something breaks, no one really wins... You’re both stuck to the fighting, stuck to pretending everything is okay and doomed to repeat the cycle.”
The track captures that inescapable moment when love stops being salvageable. Not because of a dramatic fallout, but because of the slow, unspoken unraveling. It’s in this emotional grey zone that Morrell’s songwriting thrives, turning introspection into soundscapes that echo long after the final note.
Next week, Morrell will join Kita Alexander on her national tour. Kicking off in Melbourne on July 11, the run of shows will continue on to Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide, before wrapping up in Perth on August 15.
