New Zealand indie pop sensation BENEE had dropped her new single today, Night Garden. The track features producer Kenny Beats and British musician, Bakar.
The collaboration saw the singer head to Los Angeles to work with the producer. Of the experience, BENEE said “It was awesome working with him, he was so fast making the beat that it was also probably the fastest I have ever had to write a song ha ha!.”
Before long, Bakar joined the track, recording his verse shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic sent the world into lockdown. BENEE handpicked Bakar for the track, an artist she had wanted to collaborate with, saying the British singer “has the coolest voice so I felt it would be sick to have him on it!”
The singer has recently been announced as Apple Music’s newest Up Next artist. Up Next is a monthly initiative by the streaming service which aims to bring attention to and showcase rising talent while giving them a worldwide platform. The global campaign includes the release of a short film shot entirely on iPhone 11 Pro and a sit-down interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
Just this morning, BENEE was announced as the only international artist on the Yours & Owls line-up. The festival will take place this coming January in Wollongong, with tickets
on sale next week.
