JUNO nominated, alternative-pop band, Valley have announced the release of their forthcoming EP, Last Birthday, marking the occasion with the release of their new single Oh shit…are we in love?. Due out next month, the four-piece are set to kick off their North American tour this weekend.
Co-written and co-produced by the band alongside Jorgen Odegard, Oh shit…are we in love? brings Valley's signature bouncy bedroom-pop sonics, whilst conceptually capturing the essence of young love found in the places you'd least expect it. The release arrives alongside an official visual, directed by Joshua Drury.
Speaking of the track, Laska shares: “Oh shit…are we in love? in a way feels like Valley’s first love song while simultaneously playing the role of an end of summer anthem. We find it’s sometimes tricky as songwriters to write about love in a form that feels honest but not too kitschy or on the nose. We knew we wanted to write something that people can really sing with us live and make it a special moment. Lyrically, ‘Oh shit’ is about the realization that what you’ve been looking for the whole time has been right in front of you. The happiness of finding your person, whether that’s a significant other or a best friend or your dog.”
Made up of Laska, Karah James, Mickey Brandolino and Alex DiMaur, Valley formed in 2014, with their debut EP, Car Test, arriving the following year. Since then, the four-piece have four EP's under their belt, a string of shimmering singles, and a legion of fans. Valley will return to the stage next month, taking to the stage at Wunderbus Festival in Columbus, OH, and Bottlerock Festival in Napa Valley, CA, followed by 17-date North American tour supporting COIN.
