With the release of their fourth record, 0202, imminent, Aussie band The Rubens have announced their collaboration with fine wine merchants at Built to Spill Wine. The limited edition 0202 Cabernet Pet Nat will be available to pre-order on its own, via album bundles or as a ticket bundle for the bands upcoming intimate Sydney show. Taking place at Crowbar next Wednesday, tickets are on sale now and extremely limited!
After many taste tests with the band, the Built to Spill Wine team paired the indie-pop genre benders with Ryan O'Meara of Express Winemakers, who delivers some of the freshest juice to come out of the Great Southern. O’Meara concocted this effervescent little release from healthy cabernet grapes with gentle pressing to make it light and finished it pet nat style; naturally sparkling, unnaturally delicious. It is a wild fruited fizzer, plenty of blood orange upfront, like a San Pell Aranciata Rossa with layers of watermelon granita, refreshing herbal notes and a crunchy, dry finish.
Speaking of the collaboration, frontman Sam Margin shares: “We’re so bloody excited to have collaborated with Built to Spill Wine and Express Winemakers to bring you our 0202 Cabernet Pet Nat. It’s yum as and it’s got bubbles, so it’s the perfect bottle to pop in celebration of our new album 0202!”
The band will be returning to the stage in support of their new album, performing six shows across regional NSW starting in Bathurst today, followed by performances in Morton, Tamworth, Dubbo, Port Macquarie before finishing in Thirroul on Friday February 20.
