Illawarra six-piece The Pinheads have announced their third studio album, The Mirror. Alongside the news arrives a new taste of the record with Rain Down, following their previous single Heart of Darkness.

Recorded and mixed by frontman Jez Player at The Pinshed and mastered by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering, the bands latest offering was inspired by the ravenous 2019/2020 bushfire season, with Player's mesmerising vocals floating above melancholic sonics. The release is accompanied by an official visual, filmed and edited by James Kates. Throughout the dreamy and ethereal clip, we follow Player through a variety of natural settings, with a particular comparable quality to Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock.

Rain Down was written around the time of the2019/20 bush fires. Walking out of the studio and instantly overcome with the dryness and heat of the evening air-the air was heavy with the smell of burning lands and homes. It is devastating seeing what weneeded during that time (rain), is completely consuming us now.” the band share of their latest offering.

The Mirror is out July 8!
