The Australian music industry has joined forces to use their voices and platform, with over 400 Australian artists joining together in a campaign to #VaxTheNation and 'Stop the Interruptions'.

Launching today, the initiative is spreading the word on the impact the COVID-19 has had on the local music scene and urge Australians nationwide to get vaccinated. With artists such as Amy Shark, Spacey Jane, Guy Sebastian, Pond, Ball Park Music, Peking Duk, Montaigne, The Rubens, Tim Minchin, Ocean Alley, Jimmy Barnes, Midnight Oil, G Flip, Amyl & The Sniffers, Paul Kelly, legendary comedian Celeste Barber and more joining the initiative, the #VaxTheNation campaign features footage and imagery of punters coming together to experience the glow of live music.

Speaking of the initiative, legendary musician Uncle Archie Roach shares: "It's like boxing - a few well-placed jabs can keep your opponent at bay - so let's get the jab to fight COVID-19 so we can get back to what we love doing".

With close to 80,000 Australian's who have worked within the sector finding themselves without an income, #VaxTheNation is the perfect reminder on the continuing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, live entertainment contributed $36.5 billion dollars to the Australian economy, with many of those venues that housed live music, now permanently closed.

"We miss playing shows. We miss going to see our favourite artists play. Once vaccination targets are hit, we hit the road once again and we cannot wait!" says The Rubens

Established LIVE Alliance, the initiative was formed by members of ARIA, Live Nation, Frontier Touring, the Mushroom Group, Live Performance Australia, Australian Festival Association and TEG. “The impact of the pandemic on Australia’s world-leading music, theatre, comedy and live entertainment industries has been truly devastating,” LIVE Alliance shared in a statement. “Getting vaccinated is the crucial step fans can take which will allow us to join together and enjoy the unbeatable magic of live performance once again.”
