Teenage Joans are back, sharing their first taste of new music since the release of their debut EP, Taste Of Me. Their latest offering, Terrible, serves as the first taste of their sophomore EP, and forays into more heavier sonics as the duo explore their punk and hardcore side.
"The song is about being led on by someone who “holds you like they’re gonna drop you” - aka sticks around when it’s easy and leaves as they please. We actually wrote the original version of Terrible before we wrote most of Taste Of Me, but we didn’t feel like it was good enough to release at that time. We rewrote it a second time at a band practice in April 2021, and then a third time when we went into the studio in September 2021. The song is almost entirely different now, apart from the ending which has stayed the same since we first wrote it!” Teenage Joans share of the track.
Alongside the release comes the announcement of Teenage Joans' signing to Domestic La La. Helmed by Violent Soho's James Tidswell, the duo join the likes of The Terrys, Dear Seattle, West Thebarton, LOSER, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Divers on the boutique labels roster.
“I loved Teenage Joans from the moment I heard them and then seeing them live absolutely blew me away. It is an honour to have them as part of the Domestic La La family and I cannot wait for everyone to hear their brand new song "Terrible," the scream at the end is the BEST!!!!” Tidswell shares.
Since bursting onto the scene, the duo have released a string of singles and gone on to share the stage with the likes of Ruby Fields, The Hard Aches, Clowns, Towns and Bec Stevens, and secured a spot at Laneway Festival 2019 as part of the Girls Rock! Showcase. The duo performed a sold-out debut headline show before winning the "South Australian Best Live Act" in the 2019 National Live Music Awards.
