Earlier today, the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards took over the Los Angeles Convention Centre, with the stars aligning to bring a slew of memorable performances and record breaking moments.
Beyoncé made history today as she became the most awarded female artist in GRAMMY history. With 28 wins under her belt, the singer said during her acceptance speech for Best R&B performance for Black Parade, "I am so honored. I'm so excited. Thank you. As an artist, I believe it's my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times. And it's been such a difficult time. So I wanted to uplift, encourage, celebrate all of the beautiful Black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world." The singer picked up an additional three awards tonight, Best R&B performance for Black Parade, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for her feature on Megan Thee Stallion's Savage and Best Music Video for Brown Skin Girl, her collaboration with Saint Jhn, Wizkid and Blue Ivy Carter.
Taylor Swift took home the award for Album Of The Year for folklore, becoming the first female artist to win the award three times, following her 2010 win for Fearless, followed up 1989 in 2016. Swift accepted the award with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff, her key collaborators on the record. The singer also thanked her partner, actor Joe Alwyn, who wrote with Swift for the record. Swift also took to the stage with her folklore collaborators to perform a medley of tracks, including cardigan, august and willow. The magical performance transported viewers into the woodsy realm of folklore, and its sister album, evermore.
Opening the show with his hit-single Watermelon Sugar, global superstar Harry Styles took to the stage before taking home the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for the track. His performance was followed up by Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, who performed their GRAMMY nominated song, Everything I Wanted. Later in the evening, the pair took home the lauded Record Of The Year Award for the song, following their win for Best Song Written For Visual Media for No Time To Die, the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film of the same name.
Having scored six nominations, Dua Lipa was awarded Best Pop Vocal Album for her sophomore record, Future Nostalgia, with Andrew Watt scoring Producer Of The Year for his work on the album. Lipa was joined on stage by DaBaby to perform their remix of her song Levitating, before playing Don't Start Now, which was fused together with elements of different tracks from the award winning album.
Taking out Best New Artist was Megan Thee Stallion, who also won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for Savage. The rapper performed the hit song, before being joined by Cardi B to perform their collaboration, WAP. H.E.R., Tiara Thomas and Dernst Emile II walked away with Song Of The Year for I Can't Breathe, a moving protest song written in response to police killings of unarmed Black people in 2020.
Rounding out the nights performers was Haim, Black Pumas, DaBaby, Roddy Ricch and Antony Hamilton, Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez, Silk Sonic in their debut performance, Mickey Guyton, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris and John Mayer, Post Malone, Lil Baby, Tamika Mallory and Killer Mike, Doja Cat, BTS and Roddy Ricch. Silk Sonic, Lionel Richie, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard and Chris Martin performed tributes to Little Richard, Kenny Rogers, John Prine and Ferry Marsden.
