SURELY SHIRLEY REVEAL NEW SINGLE 'HEARTBLUSH'

Surely Shirley are trading nostalgia for something a little more cinematic on Heartblush, the first new release from Nigerian-Australian twins Jenaya and Anisha Okpalanze since their Patchwork Palace EP.

Built around their trademark 60s-inspired harmonies, the new single leans into old-Hollywood glamour without getting stuck in the past. There’s a dreamy, alt-pop glow to it - all Sunset Boulevard, diner booths and rose-tinted afternoons - wrapped around a bright ode to the giddy rush of a new romance. “Written in a room filled with old Hollywood magic, Heartblush is a melody infused with candied romance and rose tinted vision,” the duo say.

The track also feels like a natural extension of Surely Shirley’s wider world. Their modelling careers and carefully crafted visual identity have helped build a combined audience of up to 600K, while their music has already taken them well beyond the screen. They’ve sold out EP shows across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, appeared at SXSW, Lost Paradise, Party in the Paddock and Yours & Owls, and shared stages with Don West, Infinity Song and Kate Bollinger.

Heartblush is a confident step forward - a glossy first glimpse at what comes next, with new music and live shows on the horizon. Surely Shirley are building their own little corner of pop: romantic, visual and deliberately timeless.
