Central Coast's Sunsoli (formerly The Sea Gypsies) have dropped their new single, Time and Place. To celebrate the release, the band have shared with MILKY thier five tips for moving forward. Alongside the release arrives the announcement of the bands debut self-titled album.
“Time and Place is one of the last songs we wrote on the album. It was actually one of Dan’s demo’s that we put to the side for years until we were looking for the right song to complete the album. Once Dan had refined the music and structure the rest of the song was basically written in a 40 minute drive to rehearsal one evening by Joe. Having a son recently felt like the missing piece of the puzzle for him. Any wrongdoings of the past, or anxieties he had, melted away since bringing that perfect little human into the world.” Sunsoil share.
The band will embark on an east coast tour in support of Sunsoil. Kicking off in Wollongong on September 15, the run of shows will continue on to Canberra, Geelong, Melbourne, Maroochydore, Brisbane, Sydney and Gosford, before wrapping up in Bellingen on December 1. Tickets are on sale now!
ONE
It's normal and natural to second guess yourself when making important decisions, like a name change. Just because something is scary doesn’t mean it's not worth doing. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith.
TWO
Redefining how we write as a band especially since everyone's families have grown post-COVID. It's important any musician finds out what works for them individually or as a team.
THREE
Trying to be successful in the music industry whilst also working full time jobs is a hard slog. The advantage of being in a band is that we have each other throughout the process. Being able to lean on each other and knowing that someone else gets exactly how you’re feeling in that moment and (usually) knows what to say.
FOUR
Having the right team around you has always been a priority for us. We have amazing management, publicity and distribution now who work hard to bring our music to our fans and we cant thank them enough for their work.
FIVE
So we now have a 3 beer limit before any gig that we play. Over the years we’ve learnt our limits and delivering quality music to our fans is extremely important to us.
