Last week, hip-hop artist Star2 dropped his new single December. The release arrives alongside an official visual, directed by Hector Toro.

Exploring reggae influenced sonics in the songs chorus, the romantic release has the artist longing for the woman who caught his eyes and hoping to feel the warmth of love throughout the colder months. The sincere release is built upon a semi-spatial soundscape, with booming beats driving the track as moving orchestral work swells beneath steel drums.

“We wanted something almost like a reggae lullaby. The main melody would be something like what you’d hear coming from a music box on your dresser – except with steel drums, and accompanied by an orchestra!” Star2 says of the track.

The songs visual captures intimate moments between Star2 and the apple of his eye, as the pair enjoy time spent together by a vast lake and playing hoops in an arcade. Laced with festive moments, we see the musician decorating the tree and exchanging gifts with his love interest.

Speaking of the visual, the musician shares: “I thought it would be a dope record to release for the holidays, so for the video shoot, we rented a winter cabin in Lake Arrowhead. I didn’t know a place like Lake Arrowhead existed so close to LA! The drive up into the San Bernardino Mountains was breathtaking. Lol … there’s even a high school named “The Rim of the World High School”at the top of the drive. You feel like you are literally on top of the world! Then you see the lake and it’s just so incredibly beautiful! Like something out of a movie.” “We woke up super early and did an all-day shoot. My favorite part was performing on the boat dock with the camera/drone flying past. Lake Arrowhead is a small community and we were definitely the talk! All eyes were on us!”

December is out now! Watch the visual below.
