Multiple GRAMMY® Award winners Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have dropped another cut from their collaborative musical project, Silk Sonic. Skate continues the smooth and soulful sonics of their debut ARIA platinum selling single Leave The Door Open, this time around bringing a more upbeat groove to the track.
The release arrives alongside a gliding visual, directed by Mars and Florent Déchard and co-directed by Philippe Tayag. Throughout the visual, we watch the duo serenade a group of rollerbladers, bringing all the summertime vacation fun.
The duo began flirting with the idea of a collaboration in 2017, when Anderson .Paak supported Mars on the European leg of his 24K Magic World Tour. One late-night jam session on the road unlocked immediate chemistry. Just before the world slipped into quarantine, Mars called Anderson: “Remember that idea we had back in 2017? Let’s do it.” One studio session grew into to a months-long collaboration, culminating the “setlist of doom.” The legendary Bootsy Collins christened Silk Sonic and came in as the “special guest host” for An Evening With Silk Sonic, their forthcoming debut album, due out later this year.
Skate is out now! Watch the visual below.
