Iconic Aussie trio Short Stack have shared the latest cut from their forthcoming album, Maybe There's No Heaven, with the release of their new single Armageddon. Originally set to drop this month, the record will now arrive in April.
The band explain the albums delay is due to ongoing live music restrictions across the east coast thwarting their release week performance plans, instead deciding to delay the album so they can celebrate their first record in seven years alongside their devoted fanbase. "We'd booked some small cap shows up the East Coast during release week that don't look like like they will happen in February, so we've decided it would be worth the wait to replan something for April, right after we warm up at UNIFY in March as well! Stay tuned for plans around this new release date - we can't wait to see you."
Speaking of Armageddon, Diviney shares: "We grew up as massive fans of Blink-182 and when we very first started out we would just play Blink covers in our garage. This song is a love letter to that. We wanted to make it a real throw back to our roots, super quick and really fun. It’s one of my favourite songs on the record."
Maybe There's No Heaven will arrive with ten new tracks, including the previously released singles Burn You Down, Live4 and Like I Used To. Influenced by the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, The Getaway Plan, Blink-182 and The Used, the band enlisted Stevie Knight (Stand Atlantic, Yours Truly) to help bring the album to life after recording demos in Webb's studio. As much as we were writing the album that we 100% wanted to write, we were also writing for those fans that have been there for us… they’re the only reason that we get to do this,” says Diviney. “We didn’t think we’d have the opportunity to do this again and we are just super grateful that we can.”
Having announced their reformation in early 2020, the band were set to embark on their national comeback tour, with multiple dates selling out in a matter of hours. With the shows being rescheduled a number of times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band continued working away on new music, signing to UNFD.
Kicking off in Newcastle on June 16, the run of shows will continue on to Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, before wrapping up in Perth on July 23. Along for the ride is special guests Between You and Me, with new tickets on sale now!
