UK-based grunge three-piece Puppy have shared their second release of the year with their new single, The Kiss. Written and produced by the band, the track is built upon rumbling guitar lines and driving percussion, with front man Jock Norton’s hypnotic vocals captivating your attention within textural sonics.

Speaking of the track, Norton shares: “The Kiss came out of songwriting sessions for our first album The Goat. For whatever reason it was left by the wayside, but when we started recording new material across the last year or so we decided to try laying down a proper version of it to see how it would sound (and because we were too lazy to come up with any new songs). What we ended up with sounded way better than the acoustic version Billy had on his phone from four years ago, so at a vote of 2 to 1 (sorry Bill), we decided to release the new one.”

The release arrives with an official visual, directed by the band alongside Jacek Zmarz. The abstract and vibrant clip brings a number of textural landscapes that intends to capture the bands headspace during the creation process of The Kiss. “We teamed up with Jacek Smarz, a mysterious and enigmatic long-term friend of the band, who created the batshit animations that serve as a pretty good visual representation of where our heads were at when we were recording the music. It’s the first time we’ve shared creative duties on a video with someone not in the band, and we are shocked and horrified to find the amazing difference it makes when you hand over control to someone actually knows what they’re doing." drummer Billy Howard says.

The trio will be hitting the road around the UK next month, visiting Bristol, Southhampton, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester and London. Puppy are bringing along Inhuman Nature along for the tour, with Gender Roles also set to appear at the London show.

Forming in 2015, Norton, Howard and bassist Will Michael shared a common interest the soundtrack to cult 80s comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and worked together in a London bar. Soon after karaoke sessions that saw Norton and Michael perform songs from Van Halen and Metallica which led to the formation of Puppy. With a number EP's and a full length album under their belt, the three piece are going from strength to strength with their single releases this year.
