NSW South Coast singer-songwriter Joe Mungovan is gearing up to release his new single, Like That. If you can’t wait to give the track a spin, you can watch the official visual premiering right here on MILKY!
Set to appear on his long awaited debut album A Flower In The Weeds, the song brings the musicians staple sleeked back production and captivating vocals, with catchy guitar riffs that will remain in your head all day long. The satirical visual depicts the musician as a number of characters undertaking a number of day-to-day activities, in matching Sporty Spice-esque track suits.
Speaking of the visual, the musician shares: “This is by far the most ridiculous music video I have ever made. I came up with the idea randomly one day and took it to Mikey and Christina and we kind of just rolled with it. The process of making this record was solitary as I recorded most of the songs while living by myself. We played with the idea of ‘Joe Mungovan’ as a 4-piece band and the personalities each ‘band member’ would embody. The idea’s got more and more outrageous as we went on. There was glitter, hair wire, make up and at one stage my eyelids were accidentally glued together. It was filmed at the house I grew up in.”
Written throughout lockdown, the album takes its inspiration from the musicians time spent travelling Europe, and a blossoming international relationship that was thwarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To celebrate the release, Mungovan will perform an album launch show in Thirroul, before an extended NSW cafe tour later this year. Full tour dates below.
