Sydney-based duo Polish Club have sprinkled some mid-tempo rock into your Friday morning with the release of their new single, Unstable. The track arrives just in time for the bands national tour, set to kick off next month.
Having written around 100 songs for their last body of work, which was curated down to a collection of 10, the song picks up where the band left off, leaning into their signature thrilling rock sonics. Frontman David Novak's compelling vocals simmer above driving guitar lines and JH's dynamic drum work. “We found ourselves not wanting to stop the momentum after our last record. We couldn’t tour, and we had so many good songs left unfinished. So there was zero hesitation when it came to deciding to regroup with Wade in the studio and just punch out some rock songs.” shares frontman David Novak.
Recorded in Sydney at Marrickville’s Golden Retriever with with long-time producer Wade Keighran, Unstable marks the first release from the band to feature a full live band, bringing in Dan Cunningham on guitar and Keighran on bass. The release is accompanied by an official, directed by Billy Zammit, that captures the duos electric live performance.
Kicking off on the Gold Coast on April 1, Polish Club's national tour will continue on to Brisbane, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Torquay, before wrapping up in Melbourne on April 23. Tickets are on sale now, with additional tickets added to shows across the east coast.
Last year, Polish Club released their third studio album, Now We're Cookin'. Written throughout the lockdowns of 2020, the record covers a number of topics, with a prominent conceptual thread woven throughout. Traversing genre and fusing together threads of 90’s alt-rock, pop, funk and R&B, the album meanders between upbeat tracks and ballads, capturing the tastes of modern audiences who do not constrict themselves to one style of music. Across the collection of songs, the duo call out bad and unacceptable behaviour present not only within the music industry but wider communities.
