Phoenix Central Park is set to re-open its doors next month! The Sydney venue has today announced a string of shows to take place over February and March as part of their Season III program.

“We have programmed ten acts who each connect with distinct audiences and will bring a completely new group of people to come through our doors with every performance. That is by design.” says Creative Director Beau Neilson.

Set to take to the stage is hip-hop artist and recent NIMA Album of the Year winner, JK-47, keyboardist and composer Heather Shannon, Ngiyampaa, Yuin, Bandjalang and Gumbangirr violinist and dancer Eric Avery, Newcastle/Awabakal based musician e4444e, leading harpist Alice Giles, Korean-Australian rap crew 1300, soulful singer KYE, The Australian Chamber Orchestra and Goddess911, with Adrian Lim-Klumpes (Tangents), Chris Abrahams (The Necks) and Novak Manojlovic (Hekka) joinging forces in an acoustic performance that will bring together the venues three pianos.

Neilson continues, “Not only are we intent on giving our audiences something to look forward to in trying times, but we also believe it’s essential to be resolute in our mission to support artists and provide a solid and beautiful platform for the presentation of their work. Throughout the pandemic we have endeavoured to be nimble and adaptable in pursuing that mission. First, with our HALO digital concert series which supported twenty different Sydney musicians, and now with the announcement of our program Season III.”

Whilst all performances are free to attend, Phoenix Central Park have implemented a ballot system that allows patrons to register for tickets to each show, with 120 audience members selected for each performance. “Our ballot system allows us to be flexible,” Neilson explains, “giving us the ability to responsively scale audience sizes based on what is appropriate given pandemic conditions and ensures fair access to free tickets”. “We will continue to ask that audiences are fully masked-up and vaccinated before attending a show. We cannot wait to have audiences through our doors once again”.
