Brooklyn-based artist mxmtoon, also known as Maia, has collaborated with pop-star Carly Rae Jepsen on their new track, ok on your own. The song will feature on the singers upcoming EP, dusk.
Showcasing her strengths as singer, songwriter and producer, the track thematically navigates love and loneliness. The vulnerable song faces the bitter reality of coming to terms with the end of a relationship and the realisation of your own self worth.
Of the collaboration, the singer shared: “i was beyond excited to work on this track and have it be graced by Carly Rae Jepsen, someone who stands for empowerment and knows the themes of love and loneliness all too well. my hope for the song is that ok on your own can let people know that vulnerability is never something to be afraid of, and admitting you need time for yourself and support from a friend is sometimes a necessary step.”
Maia is also turning her attention back to podcasting, launching the first episode of her new daily podcast titled 365 days with mxmtoon next week. Each day, the singer will take listeners through some interesting, weird, and funny events of that occurred on that day in history. The new series follows the successful 21 days with mxmtoon podcast series.
